Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku has distributed a prepared text to the media with an excerpt from the speech she gave at a conference held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Albania's membership in the Council of Europe. According to the text distributed by her press office, it is learned that Ms. Tabaku this time has taken on the role of a legal expert - focusing on the negative effects of the justice reform.
Tabaku also focused on the consequences of the three-year absence of the Constitutional Court, describing this period as a "crisis of constitutional democracy."
"The justice reform, although launched with good intentions and with a significant contribution from the Democratic Party, left the country without a Constitutional Court for three years. At that time, Albania was a state without a constitutional arbiter. Every initiative that affected the balance of power remained without the test of constitutionality. And apparently, the majority got used to it," she emphasized.
Perhaps Ms. Tabaku's exported expertise in justice matters could have made her clearer in taking a stance on the current Constitutional Court crisis, something on which the Democratic Party and its chairman have had a clear and strong stance.
