The independent candidate for the municipality of Tirana, Florian Binaj, held a meeting today with representatives and coordinators of the opposition parties that have expressed support for his candidacy. In a statement to the media after the meeting, he emphasized that this was only the first step in a series of meetings that will follow to coordinate the campaign.
"Today the first meeting with representatives and coordinators of the opposition parties took place. It was a very fruitful meeting and I believe it is the first of many others that await us in the coming days," said Binaj.
He announced that he is working on the electoral program with a group of independent experts, emphasizing that he will not rush to publish it, as he aims for a serious and comprehensive document for citizens.
"Things take time to get done well. When it's ready, we'll make it public and present it to the citizens of Tirana," he added.
Binaj also touched on the relationship with the leaders of the opposition parties, emphasizing that he has not yet held meetings with any of them, but is ready to do so at any moment. However, he maintained his stance that he will not appear at electoral meetings alongside the party leaders.
"I have not spoken to Mr. Berisha and I have said that in the field trips, in the campaign, there will be no representation of the leaders, but I am absolutely ready to meet any leader of the opposition parties," he declared.
Responding to comments that he is dependent on the Democratic Party, Binaj said: "I am an independent candidate, supported by all opposition parties. And if you see as a kind of dependence the fact that support comes not only from the DP, but from all other parties, yes I am also dependent on the Mundësia party, I am dependent on the Nisma Thurrje party, on Shqipëria Bëhet and on the Agrarian party."
