Within the framework of the Peace Board's proceedings, American Major General Jasper Jeffers stated that several countries have expressed their willingness to contribute military assistance to stabilize the situation in Gaza.
According to him, the aim is to create five security sectors and establish a Security Force with around 12,000 personnel, including police and soldiers.
Jeffers announced that five countries will contribute troops and police personnel: Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Albania. Meanwhile, Albania and Kosovo have undertaken to provide training for the police officers who will be included in this new security structure.
So far, according to the American general's statement, about 2,000 applications have been registered from Palestinians seeking to be recruited into the Security Force in the enclave.
The initiative aims to build a new security architecture on the ground, in order to stabilize the situation and create conditions for administration and public order in Gaza.
