The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has rejected the request of the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, to replace the security measure of "prison arrest" with a milder measure.
Veliaj, who has been in detention since February 10 of last year, was present at the hearing, along with two SPAK prosecutors, Altin Dumani and Ols Dado.
The defense requested a change in the measure, arguing that the investigations have been completed and that the legal conditions for keeping him in custody no longer exist.
After reviewing the request, the GJKKO decided to leave the security measure of "prison arrest" in force, causing the mayor of Tirana to continue his stay in prison.
