The post by Socialist Party of Albania MP Bora Muzhaqi, after the meeting with the delegation of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, headed by David McAllister, brought an optimistic outlook on the direction the government is taking in the European integration process — and a clear dose of political self-confidence.
Muzhaqi herself, likely without her usual blunders, emphasized Albania's role on the "peace board," as a small country that aims to have a voice in the international arena.
The MP even defended the legal changes that the majority is undertaking to create a "fast track" for EU approximation legislation, referring to the experiences of Croatia and Slovenia as models of success. It is difficult to understand what laws Bora was talking about, but it is clear that the photos posted were of good quality and the MP seemed to be smiling.
Perhaps someone should have told him during or after the meeting that the EU delegation's assessment was critical of both the fight against corruption and Bora's party's initiative to amend the Criminal Procedure Code. But as the saying goes, you have to listen to understand. And to learn then requires a little more effort. Something that Bora Muzhaqi seems not to have taken into consideration.
