While once again demanding the government declare a state of emergency following the flooding situation in the country, Sali Berisha called on citizens to react directly to the members of the government cabinet. He made these statements during a political roundtable with the opposition and representatives of civil society, convened by him.
"Wherever you see ministers, throw eggs or tomatoes at them, they are the causes of your disasters," Berisha said at the table, attributing responsibility for the floods to the government and the way it managed the situation.
The roundtable took place without the presence of several new political forces. As previously announced, Agron Shehaj of "Mundësia", Adriatik Lapaj of "Shqipëria Bëhet" and Arlind Qori of "Lëvizja Bashkë" declined the invitation to participate.
Berisha's statements at the table come in a tense political climate, as the opposition seeks responsibility for the floods and the government faces criticism for its management of the emergency.
