The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, has announced the holding of early elections following the majority's decision to prevent the arrest of Belinda Balluku.
In a status on the social network Facebook, Shehaj emphasizes: "It is clear that after the majority's decision to prevent the arrest of Belinda Balluku, we must go to early elections. It no longer makes sense that while justice is investigating and seeking the arrest of the corrupt, the majority takes them under its protection. This majority no longer has legitimacy."
He added that Albanian citizens should have the opportunity to choose between justice and the current government, emphasizing that the decision to protect the corrupt from justice is a historic moment that requires a reaction from citizens:
"Albanian citizens must decide whether we are dealing with a coup d'état by the judiciary, as Edi Rama says, or whether we are dealing with true justice. And only Albanian citizens can make this decision."
Shehaj concluded by underlining the importance of preparing for early elections:
"We must get ready for early elections. This is a historic moment for Albania. Finally, there is justice and the corrupt are being brought to justice; we must show them the way with our vote."
