The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stopped the "Pulpit" tour in Kurbin, where he delivered a long speech accompanied by strong accusations against the government, state institutions and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During his speech, Berisha stated that, according to him, state agencies are being used to exert pressure and violence against businessmen in order to withdraw them from public tenders. He claimed that people have been taken hostage and taken to private premises linked to individuals in the criminal world, describing this situation as unprecedented.
"Can you imagine a state agency that takes people, businessmen and employees, hostage to force them to withdraw from tenders?" said Berisha, adding that, according to him, such a reality does not exist in any other country except Albania.
He further accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of exerting pressure on justice institutions, including the Constitutional Court and the Parliament. According to Berisha, important procedures, such as lifting immunity and making relevant decisions, have been blocked, while long parliamentary meetings have been closed without a decision and without a deadline for their continuation.
At the end of his speech, Berisha declared that the country is at a critical moment, but stressed that the opposition is more prepared than ever to react. He stated that Albanians have overthrown a dictatorship in the past and, according to him, are determined to react strongly to the current political situation, calling for a revolt on December 22.
During the meeting, citizens and supporters of the Democratic Party also raised concerns about territorial reform, demanding that Kurbin be returned to the municipality. According to them, the area is currently out of government attention and is facing a lack of investment and services.
Another issue highlighted by citizens was emigration and the departure of children, which continues to be an open wound for many Albanian families. They asked the leader of the Democratic Party to include supportive policies for families, job creation and strengthening the Albanian economy in his political program.
