As the Democratic Party continued its boycott, the Assembly hall has become an arena for fierce debates between the socialist majority and only two deputies from new political forces. Redi Muçi (Lëvizja Bashkë) and Erald Kapri (Partia Mundësia) have brought to attention the scandalous statements of Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunović regarding the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of silence and anti-national stances.
On the other hand, the leader of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, responded in harsh tones, describing the accusations as "the antics of dilettantes."
Redi Muçi: "Why don't we declare the Serbian minister 'non grata'? Rama has the same problem as Vučić"
The MP from the Joint Movement, Redi Muçi, first opened the debate by asking the government why Albania has not taken the same step as Kosovo to officially declare the Serbian official undesirable.
"What do the Albanian government and the prime minister expect to react to the statement of Serbian Minister Paunovic about the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo and the support given to her by the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister? Kosovo has declared the minister non grata. How can someone who deals with the enemies of the people not take a stand on a statement by the Serbian minister? Maybe because, together with his friend, Vučić, they have the same problem: the fact that the youth despises them," Muçi declared in the rostrum.
Balla: "We don't joke about national issues, you were asleep!"
The majority's response came through Taulant Balla, who insisted that Albania has maintained an official and adequate position through diplomatic channels, while simultaneously attacking the new MP's approach.
"Regarding a statement that is not only irresponsible, but also outrageous and serious, the Albanian government's reaction has been timely and adequate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These are issues that are not addressed with the sarcasm of political dilettantes, of a young cadet in the Assembly. We do not mock national issues, we are not sarcasm like yours! We have maintained our position at the government level by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the political level, I reacted before you, you were asleep when I reacted together with those in your political cage. This act has been condemned by the representative political authorities. As for Edi Rama, you and your friends should wash their mouths well because he is the only prime minister since 1912 who has raised the issue of Kosovo," Balla retorted.
Erald Kapri: "Rama, like Enver Hoxha, has been silent about Kosovo"
The debate was also joined by the MP of the Opportunity Party, Erald Kapri, who made a strong historical comparison between the current prime minister and the dictator Enver Hoxha, claiming that the "Open Balkans" project resembles the policies of 1946.
"Rama was not the only prime minister in Belgrade. Enver Hoxha was also there. Like Rama, Enver Hoxha opened the borders with the former Yugoslavia, made the Balkans open, and created a currency unit. Like Rama, Hoxha was silent about Kosovo regardless of what was happening there. Kosovo Prime Minister Haradinaj has publicly said that Rama asked me to accept the division of Kosovo. As for the tales of the national issue, there are facts. The open Balkans was Enver Hoxha's project. Where does the former Serbian minister find the courage to seriously insult Kosovo Albanians even after 25 quotes, because she knows that there is an ally in Tirana who is silent. You want to fill our minds with even more national tales, " Kapri said.
According to Kapri, Parliament is meeting "under siege conditions" and against the will of citizens protesting on the boulevard, accusing the head of government of openly flirting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
