VNA has learned the reason for the debate between National Council member Ilirjana Kuçana and Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha during this Wednesday's National Council meeting.
Sources indicate that the cause was a resolution submitted by Ilirjana Kuçana and another member of the National Council, Lisandër Hoxha, which focused on the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka. It aimed to block Noka's candidacy for another term as the number two of the Democratic Party.
After the live broadcast was interrupted, the debate continued in harsh tones. According to VNA sources, Kuçana and Hoxha addressed Berisha with the words: "We are not puppets, you have decided for Muli."
Despite the clash, Sali Berisha has decided to leave the race for the post of Secretary General open, where Flamur Noka will face Saimir Korreshi. However, according to sources, Noka remains the favorite to win this mandate as well.
