A rare debate within the Democratic Party has forced the temporary suspension of the National Council meeting, while the live broadcast from the Blue House was also interrupted for a few moments.
The cause of the clash was a claim by National Council member Ilirjana Kuçana, who requested a discussion of a resolution that, according to her, had been submitted 24 hours before the meeting, in accordance with the provisions of the Democratic Party statute.
The President of the National Council, Julia Emiri, responded to Kuçana that the meeting had an approved agenda and that the resolution presented by her could not be included for discussion in that session.
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, also intervened in the debate, reminding Kuçana of the provisions of the statute, arguing that her request was not allowed according to the party's rules.
The clash between the two continued for several moments. At one point, Berisha addressed Kuçana with the words: “We cannot write the statute here.”
Kuçana continued to refute Berisha's arguments, but at that moment there was no microphone, so her reaction was not heard on the broadcast.
Just a few seconds later, the Democratic Party headquarters' control center cut off the live broadcast signal from the meeting, and the session was temporarily suspended.
