Kamber Sulçe, suspected of the murder of Italian businessman Edoardo Sarchi in Salari, surrenders to the Gjirokastra police.
The serious incident occurred on the evening of September 26 in the village of Salari, Tepelena. Sarchi was having dinner at the holiday home of his friend, Eqerem Braçi, together with the latter's son, Gazment Braçi.
After dinner, Gazmenti had gone out hunting in two vehicles, when on the way he encountered Kamber Sulçaj, a local resident and ranch owner. According to the investigation, Sulçaj followed the vehicles and, when they stopped due to a flat tire, Braçi called his father for help.
Eqerem Braçi and Eduardo Sarchi immediately rushed to the scene in two cars, but were met with a barrage of bullets from Sulçaj, who was using a shotgun with binoculars. During the shooting, a bullet that is believed to have ricocheted hit the Italian businessman in the leg, severing his main artery and causing fatal bleeding.
Investigations show that the perpetrator shot for about 15–20 minutes, which suggests that his intention was to kill, not simply scare. Kamber Sulçaj is a person with a criminal record and is considered to be highly dangerous.
