Ten days after the serious incident at the Court of Appeals, where Judge Astrit Kalaja was killed inside the courtroom, security measures at the entrance to the institution have been significantly strengthened.
The presence of police forces has now been increased both inside and outside the court premises. Security checks have become stricter, including not only scanning with detection devices, but also physical searches carried out by security personnel and police officers.
Changes have also been made to the way citizens are welcomed. Unlike before, when the public stood in the anteroom in front of the scanner, the reception is now held outside the building, where new information boards have been placed with the inscription "Reception for the public". Citizens are called one by one to enter, and are subjected to a detailed check before being allowed to enter the interior.
These increased measures aim to guarantee the safety of judicial staff and the public, following the shocking incident that shook the justice system in the country.
