The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Tirana has sent four people accused of kidnapping for financial gain to trial. The defendants Sulejman Sina, Idajet Mashollari, Klinton Sina and Nikoleta Begolli are accused of the criminal offense of "Kidnapping or holding a person hostage", provided for by article 109/25 of the Criminal Code.
The investigation began after a citizen reported that her brother had been kidnapped and the family was asked for a sum of 2 million lek for his release. According to the Prosecution, the kidnapping was organized by the four defendants, where the victim was deceived by Nikoleta Begolli and then forcibly kidnapped, kept tied up and threatened with death if the payment was not made.
The suspects risk sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison.

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, completed the investigations and sent to trial four citizens SS, IM, KS, and NB for the criminal offense of 'Kidnapping or holding a person hostage' provided for by article 109/25 of the Criminal Code.
The investigations into criminal proceedings no. 2978, registered on 30.04.2025, began after the complaint of citizen AV, who reported that her brother, citizen EV, had called his wife and asked her to pay 2 million lek as soon as possible because his life was in danger and only then could he return home.
The investigations revealed that citizens SS, NB, IM and KS planned the kidnapping of citizen EA and carried it out with the aim of obtaining wealth. The investigations proved that near the Tirana Pedagogical School, at the moment when citizen EV was with citizen NB, they approached a black Golf-type vehicle and forcibly put her in the vehicle, where they also put a hood over her head, and took her to another, distant location.
After taking him to an old apartment, they tied his hands and demanded the sum of 2 million lekë, claiming that citizen E. A had harassed citizen NB (the cohabitant of citizen SS). The three suspects then communicated by phone with the wife of the injured party/victim, citizen MA, who sent the suspects the sum of money.
These four people threatened citizen EA, telling him that if the payment was not made, they would send him photos of him and citizen NB, his wife, to destroy his family and then kill him.
At the conclusion of the investigations, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, proved that citizens SS, NB, IM and KS have committed the criminal offense of 'Kidnapping or holding a person hostage' provided for by Article 109/25 of the Criminal Code, which provides that; kidnapping or holding a person hostage with the aim of acquiring property or any other type of benefit, to prepare the creation of mitigating conditions for the commission of a crime, to assist in the concealment or removal of the perpetrators or collaborators in the commission of a crime, to avoid punishment, to force the fulfillment of certain requests or conditions, for political purposes or any other purpose, is punishable by imprisonment from ten to twenty years.
