
The European Association of Judges (EAJ) adopted a resolution at the request of the Union of Judges of Albania as a sign of respect for the judge killed in the courtroom, Astrit Kalaja, all Albanian judges, as well as a strong support for the entire judiciary.
The resolution was unanimously adopted following the request of the Union, which was represented by Gerd Hoxha and Genti Dokollari, at the annual meeting of the International Association of Judges, which is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The resolution encourages judges to further their commitment to the delivery of justice.
This resolution is a call for serious and immediate reflection by state bodies, which have a constitutional and legal duty to ensure a normal working climate and the safety of judges, as the cornerstone of an independent judiciary.
