The Court of Appeal in Tirana has rejected Gjon Shkambi's request to be released from detention.
Shkambi had appealed the prison sentence, denying any involvement in the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja and the injury of two other people during the court session.
In his defense, he stated that he was unaware of the actions of his nephew, Elvis Shkambi, who fired a gun as soon as the judge announced the verdict against him regarding a property dispute.
