Following the arrest of 27-year-old Kevi Muçllari by the Pogradec police, residents of the village of Çërravë and local councilors gathered in front of the police station to express their support. According to them, Muçllari defended the public interest, while the municipal councilor, Engjëll Shyti, provoked the situation and struck the resident first.
Residents also pointed out that Shyti also works in the municipal administration, violating the law.
Police announced that Kevi Muçllari has been arrested for the criminal offense of “Assault due to duty”, after a physical confrontation with councilor Shyti during a meeting of the Municipal Council in the presence of citizens. The incident occurred after numerous debates over the approval of a decision that allows the leasing of 34,660 hectares of land in Çërrava.
The decision on the land was approved with 20 votes in favor, but has caused dissatisfaction in the local community, who consider the measure unfair and one-sided. The physical fight, which became public during the meeting, fueled tension and reactions from residents, who demanded justice and respect for the public interest.
