The VNA editorial office received a video this morning from the Vjosa River, showing large amounts of waste dumped along the banks. Some of it is being burned in an uncontrolled manner, causing serious environmental damage and risking the pollution of one of the rarest and most precious rivers in Europe.
The images show the negligence of the authorities and the lack of concrete measures to protect the Vjosa, which has long been considered a natural asset of international importance. Environmental activists warn that pollution and waste burning not only harm the river's unique ecosystem, but also pose a serious threat to the health of the communities living near it.
The Vjosa, described as "the last wild river in Europe", seems to be facing one of the most severe tests of its survival today.
