The former mayor of Durrës, Vangush Dako, has been transferred from the regional hospital to the prison cells located on the outskirts of the coastal city. He was sentenced by a final decision of the Special Appeals Court to 2 years and 8 months of imprisonment and, according to the calculation, he still has a few days left to serve this sentence. On the day the court announced the decision, Dako ended up in the hospital with a gun. After staying in the hospital for 3 days, he was sent to the cell, where he will remain until September 27, that is, another six days.
Dako was convicted of abuse of office in connection with the permit for a palace in Durrës, as well as the Promenade project, which is related to the rehabilitation of the coastline. Most recently, he was threatened by placing a quantity of TNT in a hotel he owns. Regarding this incident, he is expected to give explanations to investigators as soon as he is released from prison.
