Gilmando Dani had just touched Albanian soil. At noon he had flown a direct flight from Barcelona to Rinas.
At the airport gate, Muçi Shaljani alias Sheqeri, an agent of the Police Supervision Agency, was waiting for him, who would escort him home. Dani sat in the front seat of the car driven by the AMP agent. The car was in the name of Elvis Kosova, known as Visi i garave.
As soon as the car reached the Rinas district, a car following him for a few meters was stopped by another "Toyota" vehicle with Greek license plates and from there they were shot at. When the car in which Dani was traveling was stopped, one of the executioners got out of the "Toyota" and approached the 47-year-old, shooting him to death. So, the firing squad wanted Dani killed at all costs.
After the killers' car sped away towards the Gjola Bridge, police and passersby broke the car's window. Inside, Dani had died, while the AMP agent was transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he is in serious condition.
The killers' vehicle was found burned in the village of Halil and inside it were found 4 firearms that were suspected to have been used in the incident.
Who was Gilmando Dani?

He was known as one of Emiljano Shullazi's most loyal men. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison for extortion against the businessman of the "Saudi Brothers Company", Ylvi Beqja. The criminal group that imposed the fine was led by Emiljano Shullazi, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Dani was released from prison in October 2024, while his friend Shullazi is in custody after being tried for the murder of Vajdim Lamaj and Artan Arsi in 2005 in Tirana, and is being investigated under suspicion of providing the conditions to kill Marklen Haka.
Dani survived two assassination attempts, and was prosecuted several times for illegal possession of weapons.
The main reason for his murder is that of settling scores between criminal gangs. The Shullazi group was in conflict with Marklen Haka and Durim Bami — the latter known as "the strongman of Nikla" — as well as with the group of Xhevdet Troplini, known as Poja i Durrës.
