Greek police have cracked down on a criminal group in Thessaloniki, suspected of the September 3 shooting attack in the Pilaias area, where a 25-year-old Greek man was seriously injured with wounds to the chest and hand.
Three citizens from Korça have been arrested:
Gentian Çipi, 39 years old, with criminal records in Albania, considered the leader of the group.
Enea Basholli, 30 years old.
Kleo Topa, 23 years old.
According to investigations, Çipi is suspected of firing a gun outside a cantina, while after the incident the three fled in a vehicle owned by Basholli.
During the operation to arrest them, Çipi and Topa attempted to escape from the police by crashing into a police car and tried to flee on foot, but were caught a short time later. Basholli was arrested in the Halkidiki area.
During the checks, the Greek police seized:
1 Kalashnikov with 30 rounds of ammunition,
3 pistols and a silencer,
31 kg of marijuana,
a fake passport and driving license,
23,350 euros in cash,
several cell phones and 3 vehicles.
Greek authorities suspect that the group is involved in drug trafficking on the Albania-Greece route, as well as in violent criminal activities in Thessaloniki.
