A shocking event occurred on the afternoon of August 14 in the village of Pirg, Maliq, where 14-year-old Erald Xhejo lost his life as a result of a knife attack, inflicted by his peer, Enedio Guri.
It is learned that the victim and the perpetrator met by chance at a bar, while both were accompanied by their friends. The conflict between them, which had started about a year ago, escalated after a verbal clash during this meeting, where one of the words that ignited the quarrel was "why are you looking at me?". Then, Enedio used the knife he had with him, causing Eraldi's death with a heart attack.
After the incident, the perpetrator attempted to flee by car, while his uncle removed the knife from the crime scene, cleaned it and hid it to hinder the investigation.
Police arrested a total of 8 people in connection with the incident: the suspected perpetrator, his father and uncle who hid the cutting tool, four minors present during the conflict, as well as a 34-year-old man who was also at the scene and attempted to flee in the same vehicle.
The investigative team has emphasized that the author, Enedio Guri, is in a serious psychological state, which has made it difficult to obtain his testimony. It is expected that today, in the presence of his lawyer, psychologist and family members, his testimony will be obtained.
Police have seized the knife used in the crime, the vehicle, and several cell phones to continue investigations into the incident.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action.
