A day after denying the media, Saranda police admitted that Ferdinand Maçi was held hostage and arrested a 33-year-old man for the incident.
In today's reaction, the police say the perpetrator is suspected of having taken the 19-year-old against his will in a "Mercedes-Benz" vehicle at around 1:30 pm yesterday, after a conflict for weak motives in the village of Metoq, holding him there for a short time and then releasing him.

Saranda/A 19-year-old man was deprived of his freedom by being held in a vehicle against his will for several minutes, and the 33-year-old was arrested.
Following the preliminary information provided yesterday, regarding the case of a 19-year-old who was suspected of being forcibly taken into a vehicle, the investigative structures of the Saranda Police Commissariat, under the direction of the Saranda Prosecutor's Office, continued actions to clarify the circumstances and complete legal documentation of the event. From the statements given to the judicial police officers, the 19-year-old did not admit that he was forcibly taken, but further investigations made it possible to fully clarify the case.
As a result, the Police identified and arrested citizen GO, 33 years old, resident of the village of Gjashtë, Saranda, in flagrante delicto. This citizen is suspected of having taken citizen FM, 19 years old, into a “Mercedes-Benz” vehicle against his will on 24.09.2025, at around 13:30, after a conflict for weak motives in the village of Metoq, against his will, holding him there for a short time and then releasing him.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Saranda, for further action, for the criminal offense of "Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty".
