His name was Edoardo Sarchi, the 44-year-old entrepreneur, owner of a brick factory in Tirana, who was found dead on the side of a village road near the Salaria area (Albania), where he had gone hunting. At the center of the murder investigation are his business associate, Eqerem Braçe, as well as the latter's son, Gazment Braçe.
According to the hypothesis raised by the investigators, the Italian entrepreneur was fatally hit in the head with a hard object. Initially, some Albanian sources reported that it was a gunshot wound, but in the evening hours of Friday, September 27, the authorities clarified that the head injury was caused by another hard object.
The victim's body was found during the night between 26 and 27 September, in a mountainous area near the village of Salari, in the interior of Vlora, where he had gone hunting. The authorities have questioned the people who were with him at that moment: his associate, Eqerem Braçe, and the latter's son, Gazmenti. From the information so far, it appears that Braçe's account of the incident has been refuted by the first police verifications. Albanian media report that the possible motive for the crime is related to competition and conflicts in the business field.
In addition to the Albanian police, the Italian authorities are also involved in the investigation. The Italian Embassy in Tirana and the Consulate General in Vlora are working closely with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina) and the victim's family to follow the case step by step. Edoardo Sarchi was a 44-year-old entrepreneur from Cunardo, province of Varese (Italy), who had been living in Albania for years. He was the owner of Tegola Edilcentro, a brick manufacturing company based in Tirana, a business inherited from his maternal uncle, which is now managed by Sarchi's cousins. One of them also holds the position of president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Albania.
Following the tragic news, the community of Cunardo expressed shock and deep sorrow. The deputy mayor, Paolo Sartorio, said: “Edoardo was a citizen of the world because of his work, but he always kept his roots here. He was a kind, educated, brilliant boy. No one can understand what happened, we cannot imagine a reason.”
The event has left many questions behind and has opened a wide-ranging investigation that is expected to shed light on the exact motives and perpetrators involved in this shocking murder.
