Following Altin Ndoc's escape from the prison hospital yesterday afternoon, authorities have begun transferring high-risk individuals from Durrës prison to the high-security prison in Fier.
Durres Prison is not classified as a high-security institution, so it has been decided that high-risk prisoners will no longer be held there. The transfers only include this category and not arrested officials.
Altin Ndoci escaped from the prison hospital where he was sent for medical treatment, after complaining of kidney pain. Meanwhile, more than 24 hours after his escape, he has still not been caught, despite intensive checks and checkpoints set up by the police.
In connection with this incident, eight people have been arrested, including health personnel and police officers, suspected of involvement or negligence in the escape. Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
