
Massacre in Gjilan, Kosovo. Three people killed and one injured is the toll so far of the incident. The suspected perpetrator has been declared wanted by the police. The shocking crime occurred around 12:30 in one of the bars in Gjilan, according to confirmation that the Police spokesman for the Gjilan region, Ismet Hashani, gave to Express.
"I inform you that today, 10.08.2025, at around 12:32, it is suspected that a case of murder and injury with a firearm occurred in Gjilan, rr. 'Ibrahim Rugova'. In this case, the attending physician has ascertained the death of two people and it is suspected that two other people were injured and were provided with assistance at the emergency center here in Gjilan. The suspect in the case is a male person, a citizen of Kosovo, known to the police, who is currently on the run. The relevant units and the state prosecutor have arrived at the scene. The Kosovo Police, the regional investigation unit, in cooperation with the state prosecutor, are investigating the circumstances of this serious case," said Hashani.
Initially, according to reports, two people, a father and son, were killed at the scene. A third person later died in hospital, while the fourth person is under the care of doctors.
The suspected perpetrator has been identified as Mefail Shkodra. He is wanted. The Gjilan Police have asked for the help of citizens to catch him, publishing his photograph with the authorization of the Prosecutor's Office.
"The Kosovo Police, Regional Police Directorate in Gjilan, based on the authorization of the Basic Prosecution Office in Gjilan, with the aim of locating and arresting the suspect, issues this request for cooperation with citizens and the media," the announcement states.

According to preliminary investigations, it is suspected that the crime occurred due to conflicts over usury.
