Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the dismissal of Erion Veliaj from the position of mayor of Tirana.
Lala said that Veliaj was betrayed by his own people in the Municipal Council, adding that he "tasted the dish he cooked himself." Lala stated that he has communicated with Veliaj's lawyers, but it is still unclear whether he will appeal the dismissal to the Constitutional Court, however, during the show one of the lawyers wrote to journalists, stating that the possibility exists that Veliaj will appeal the decision to the Court of Cassation.
"Despite the fact that Veliaj deserved to be dismissed for the damages to Tirana, the incinerator, the death of Ardit Gjoklaj, May 5, the Ring Road and so on, which should be investigated, I think the procedure has problems. I am convinced that the President of the Republic will decree the date of the elections, seeing how he acted when he decreed a virtual minister. I have no doubt that Mr. Begaj will obey the government.
Veliaj ate the spoiled dish he cooked himself, being a man who only destroyed Tirana and never confronted the media. He treated the media like loot, tasted the spoiled dish, where on the last day even his confidants betrayed him, stabbed him in the back.
Veliaj's lawyers, I have communicated, were unprepared for the dismissal procedure and have said they are not involved. They do not have an answer as to whether Veliaj will go to the Criminal Court.
Even if he goes to the District Court, there will be elections in Tirana, because practice has shown that the government has always held elections and then there is no going back. Lawyers are unable to say whether Veliaj will appeal.
But even if they put the GJK into motion, I am convinced that the Municipality of Tirana will head towards elections.
"Veliaj is now not a mayor, but a single person, citizen Veliaj facing justice, this changes and could make him more vulnerable," said Lala./TPZ
