Undercover agents of the Fier Police and the Cybercrime Sector have uncovered two new online fraud schemes, after a monitoring period of several weeks in various communication groups and platforms where citizens were recruited. The data collected from within these schemes led to the identification of two platforms, one of which has already been closed, while the other started operating only a few days ago.
Investigators suspect that these schemes are similar to the fraudulent platform “XUEX”, which was busted a few days ago in the Fier region, leading to the arrest of 6 people and the announcement of a wanted list for 2 others. Police are investigating whether these two schemes are part of the same criminal group or operate independently.
The online pyramid scheme operates through websites that promise quick investments with high returns. Citizens are invited to invest amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, with the promise of multiple returns within a short period. After making the payment and sending the invoice as proof, investors are admitted to private groups on the Telegram app, where they receive further instructions on the “investments.”
