Ermal Beqiri of the company "Soft and Solution" arrived on Monday at the Special Prosecutor's Office premises to give statements regarding a criminal investigation opened by this institution regarding the abuses of tenders of the National Agency for the Information Society. Although he tried to avoid the cameras, the moments when he hurried to leave were clearly recorded along with the attempt to not appear in front of that door.
The summons for him was signed by prosecutor E. Gokaj. Sources for VNA confirmed that Beqiri was not questioned by BKH investigators yesterday, as the files against him have been merged with another file related to abuses with AKSHI tenders. Prosecutor Gokaj has identified several violations in the procedures followed by Beqiri when he worked at AKSHI. An institution "mine" of tenders with problems that to this day have not yet passed through the prosecutors' sieve. In this first investigation, in addition to the tender procedures that have been seized, the prosecutors have also analyzed every transaction made by Beqiri and his companies.
It turns out that Beqiri, a former senior Albanian government official and then a businessman with state tenders, bought a luxury yacht worth 930 thousand euros on behalf of a 24-year-old Romanian citizen. This high-value transaction, even for the most powerful businessmen in Albania, along with other expenses, is being filtered by prosecutors, while the Romanian citizen is currently being verified.
Ermal Beqiri has been denounced by the opposition as the beneficiary of many tenders at the National Agency for the Information Society. He is a figure who is often associated with IT secrets and the TIMS system at the Ministry of Interior. He is also known as a character with strong ties to some of the exponents of politics and the dark world in Albania. Years ago he became known to the public as an expert in the famous Meta-Prifti video, thanks to the expert report on which the former president was acquitted.
