Davide Pecorelli, the Italian businessman convicted in Albania for faking his own death, has sent a long letter to Italian Senator Walter Verini, secretary of the Senate Justice Committee and a leading figure in the National Democratic Party. In the letter, Pecorelli claims that he is being unjustly held in “Prison 313,” which he describes as the harshest and most notorious in Albania. He says he shares a small cell with seven other people and lives in extremely poor hygienic and sanitary conditions.
"I am infected with hepatitis C and have lost 12 kilograms in four months," he writes, describing a serious health condition and inhumane treatment.
In his appeal to Senator Verini, Pecorelli requests intervention to shed light on the legal case in which he is involved, emphasizing the importance of the final hearing to be held on September 18, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at the Court of Appeal in Tirana.
“I ask that my last wish be heard: that this entire matter be clarified by every means available,” he writes in his letter.
Davide Pecorelli first came to light in 2021, when he was first reported missing in Albania. Investigations revealed that he had faked his own death, a case that received widespread coverage in both Italian and Albanian media. He is currently serving a sentence in Albania for the charges brought against him.
