A group of protesters from the Rrjoll area attacked the building of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) this Wednesday, throwing eggs at the building and warning of radicalization of the protests if their demands are not taken into consideration.
Following the incident, the police have initiated criminal proceedings against two protesters, identified as Gezim Pjeshka and Nikoll Malaj.
According to the official police announcement, the two citizens are accused of the criminal offenses of “Disturbing public peace” and “Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations”, provided for by articles 274 and 262 of the Criminal Code.
The action in front of SPAK was led by the Opportunity Party, led by Agron Shehaj, while the protesters demanded that SPAK intervene to transfer the lands in the Rrjoll area.
According to them, the land belongs to their families and was taken unfairly by Fatmir Shpellzaj, who according to their claims has unfairly obtained final court decisions.
The protesters have declared that they will go "to the end for the legacy of their grandfathers," warning of an escalation of the protests, where just a few days ago they expressed that there would be bloodshed.
On the other hand, the current owner of the land, Fatmir Shpellzaj, has stated that the matter has been resolved in court through legal documents and final decisions.
