Dritan Dajti is another well-known criminal figure who successfully tried in 2003 to escape from the isolation room at the Tirana Court.
Exactly on his 32nd birthday, giving himself a precious gift, freedom.
The show "Në Shënjestër" brought this Tuesday, details of Dritan Dajti's sensational escape from the Tirana Court of First Instance, where he was on trial for several criminal offenses, including murder.
Exactly from where he would escape on November 17, 2003. According to the decision provided by the show 'Në Shënjestër', the time was 10.15 in the morning, when he was being escorted from prison '313' towards the Court of First Instance in Tirana, by a platoon of three escorts.
Who were tasked with maintaining his safety.
But while up until now everything seemed to be subject to a regular escort procedure, according to subsequent investigations, upon arriving at the court, Dritan Dajti first asked to go to the toilet to relieve himself.
Which was allowed by the police officers accompanying him.
Who were Halim Sula, Qemal Prençi and Besnik Muça.
But as the defendant finishes his personal needs and heads to the courtroom, he makes good use of the moment of removing his handcuffs.
A moment that catches his companions off guard. As he releases his hands from the handcuffs, he takes a pistol from his belt and puts it to the head of one of the policemen.
After entering the courtroom, Dritan Dajti asked to relieve himself. After leaving the restroom, he was escorted normally to the courtroom where the trial would take place. But before the court session began, his handcuffs were removed and the door was opened to allow the audience to enter.
At this very moment, the defendant manages to free his hands from the handcuffs, pulls out a pistol, and after pointing it at the police officers, threatening to blow their brains out, he leaves the courtroom and leaves.
Everything seems to be a well-planned scenario. Upon leaving the court under the threat of a gun and bullets that he fires into the air, creating a climate of terror, Dritan Dajti climbs onto a motorcycle that is waiting for him outside the court premises.
And from there he leaves, to return to the scene of another horrific event. Among the most serious that bears his signature, that of the loss of the lives of four police officers, where he is the absolute protagonist of this crime scene.
After leaving the courthouse, firing a pistol into the air, Dritan Dajti is met by a motorcycle on the street, and after getting on it, he leaves without being caught by the police.
When questioned by the investigation team, the three officers who accompanied him on the day of the escape said they had no idea how Dritan Dajti had been able to obtain the firearm, with which he then threatened and shot them until he left the court premises.
A weapon that was never actually learned how he could obtain, or who the people were who helped him from the outside to have it.
And how this weapon entered the courtroom's restroom, where Dritan Dajti, thanks to his cunning, was able to retrieve it.
It was also not known who the person was who waited for him outside the courthouse during the moment of his escape. An almost perfect coordination between Dritan Dajti and his external collaborators.
Dritan Dajti, who was initially arrested for the 1999 murder of businessman Agim Beqo, during a conflict over the construction of a palace in Tirana.
An offense for which he was initially sentenced by the Court of First Instance in Tirana to 20 years in prison.
But his spectacular escape in 2003 would only last 6 years.
After August 7, 2009, he shot and killed police officers Fatos Xhani, Altin Dizdari, Kastriot Feskaj, and Sajmir Duçkollari during a police operation to capture him.
Who were killed during the operation when the operatives of the Operational Unit of the State Police intervened in the beach area in Durrës to arrest Dajti, who was wanted. Meanwhile, Dritan Dajti claims even today that he reacted because he thought they wanted to execute him.
