A 28-year-old Albanian prisoner managed to escape today from Kostur hospital, where he was receiving treatment in the surgical ward. Despite being under the supervision of guards, he left under still unclear circumstances.
Greek police announced that the fugitive is Lulëzim Xibraku, convicted of serious criminal offenses and considered to be of high risk. It is suspected that the escape may have been aided by collaborators outside the prison.
To capture him, authorities have set up checkpoints on the main roads of Kostur, given that the area is located near the border with Albania.
