Indonesia has suspended plans to deploy up to 8,000 troops to the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
As Antara News reports, the Minister of the State Secretariat, Prasetyo Hadi, after a coordination meeting at the Ministry of Defense, said that "everything has been suspended."
Jakarta had previously promised to send troops as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to the devastated Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
Prasetyo cited "the worsening security situation in the region as the main reason for the indefinite postponement" of participation in the ISF mission, which was approved by the United Nations Security Council in November last year, following a resolution led by the United States of America.
Earlier, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also said that Jakarta's plan to send peacekeeping troops to Gaza has been put "on hold."
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated since the US and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28, prompting retaliation from Tehran against Tel Aviv and US bases in the Gulf region.
According to regional reports, the conflict has caused more than 1,300 casualties, including senior Iranian officials.
