Iranian authorities have identified five oil and gas facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar that they say could be targets of attacks in the coming hours.
According to a statement published by the semi-official Iranian Tasnim news agency, the list includes the SAMREF refinery and Jubail petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia, the Al Hosn gas field in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Ras Laffan refinery and Mesaieed petrochemical complex in Qatar.
The warning comes after a major development in Iran, where a major oil and gas refinery in Asaluyeh, in Bushehr province, was hit. After the attack, a fire broke out in several sections of the refinery and authorities ordered the evacuation of employees.
Iranian authorities have stated that the situation is under control, but have expressed great anger over the attack on one of the country's most important energy facilities.
Meanwhile, according to reports from Tehran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued evacuation orders for several oil and gas facilities in the Gulf region, warning that a retaliation could occur in the coming hours.
