Israel has announced that it will temporarily halt UNICEF-coordinated humanitarian deliveries to the Gaza Strip coming from Egypt, justifying the decision with the discovery of a suspected smuggling attempt.
According to a statement from COGAT, Israeli authorities have stopped an aid shipment at the Kerem Shalom border crossing where tobacco products and nicotine were found hidden among the humanitarian supplies.
Israeli authorities have informed UNICEF leaders of the temporary suspension of these shipments, emphasizing that the measure will remain in effect until a full investigation is completed and an official response is provided by the agency.
