Iranian state media reports that a powerful explosion has occurred near a pro-regime demonstration in Tehran. In the Iranian capital, as well as in other areas of the country, anti-American and anti-Israel marches organized by the regime are taking place on the occasion of Jerusalem (Al-Quds) Day, an annual event in support of the Palestinian cause.
Ali Larijani, a prominent figure in Iranian politics, was also reportedly present at the event. Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported that a woman, described by the media as an “Iranian mother,” was killed in the blast. Iranian authorities claim the blast was the result of a joint bombing by the United States and Israel.
Meanwhile, other developments are related to the escalation of tensions in the region. Four of the six American crew members have died after a tanker plane crashed in Iraq, according to the US Central Command. US officials stressed that the plane crash was not caused by enemy fire or friendly fire, while the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
The situation remains tense in several parts of the Middle East. French President Emmanuel Macron said the death of a French soldier in an attack in Erbil was "unacceptable." Explosions were also reported in Dubai, while warnings of rocket attacks and escalation of the conflict continued in the region.
Recent events are increasing international concern about a wider spread of war in the Middle East.
