Pep Guardiola has reacted to the Premier League's independent commission's decision against Manchester City, sending a strong message of support to the club, its directors, players and fans.
The former Citizens manager, who left at the end of last season after a decade in charge, has made it clear that he remains committed to the club despite the recent developments. Guardiola posted a message on social media, stressing his loyalty to Manchester City and the people who represent it.
"I want every Manchester City fan around the world to know that I am here, now more than ever. I am, have always been and will always be by the side of my team, my owner, my president, Ferran, the players, the staff, Enzo and you, our unique fans. I want to be clear, we will get through this together. I love you!", wrote Guardiola.
The Spaniard's reaction came less than 24 hours after the publication of the decision of the independent commission, which found Manchester City guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations during the period 2009/2010–2017/2018. The commission found, among other things, the use of false commercial contracts and breach of obligations to cooperate with the investigation.
Manchester City have contested the decision and have stated that they consider themselves innocent of the charges. The club has also announced that they will appeal the decision, arguing that it contains manifest errors of law, principle and fact. The deadline for lodging an appeal is October 2.
