Following the attacks on Iran, Tehran has not only mobilized its military forces to defend itself from the joint US-Israeli offensive, but has also opened another front: the propaganda war on social media. In recent days, several Iranian embassies around the world have used their accounts on the X platform to publish memes and satirical posts that mock the US president's administration.
The posts include montages and fake conversations that parody Donald Trump's statements about negotiations or a ceasefire. In one, an account linked to an Iranian embassy published a fake text message conversation in which Trump appears to be writing alone about a deal with Iran, mocking his claims of diplomatic talks.
These posts have gone viral and have been interpreted by analysts as part of the information and propaganda war that is taking place in parallel with the military conflict in the region. In addition to operations on the ground, Iran is trying to influence global public opinion through humor and irony on social networks.
In this way, the clash between Tehran and Washington is not only taking place in the military field, but also in the digital space, where satire and memes have become new propaganda weapons.
