Several airports in Italy are facing a shortage of fuel for aircraft, forcing authorities to impose restrictions on supply and flight operations.
According to official announcements published on Monday, Brindisi airport has run out of jet fuel, while restrictions have been imposed at the airports of Pescara and Reggio Calabria due to a lack of kerosene.
Brindisi airport authorities have asked airlines to refuel their aircraft at the previous airport, so as not to refuel at this airport until at least noon on Tuesday, April 7. Due to limited reserves, only state flights, search and rescue (SAR) missions and medical flights are currently guaranteed.
Meanwhile, only one tanker with a capacity of around 20,000 liters of fuel is available at Pescara airport, a situation that is expected to last until April 8.
Reggio Calabria airport has also reported reduced reserves of Jet A1 fuel until April 7, while each aircraft can be supplied with a maximum of 3,000 liters.
These airports are added to the alert issued two days ago for the airports of Milan Linate, Bologna, Treviso and Venice, where supply problems have been reported due to difficulties at one of the main fuel suppliers, Air BP Italia.
