Iran has executed another person on charges of involvement in the January protests. Ali Fahim was accused of entering a military location in Tehran and attempting to smuggle motorbikes out of the country, according to a report by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Tasnim News Agency.
The report says people, including Fahim, set the place on fire, but he was arrested after being trapped in the flames. The BBC cannot independently verify these allegations and claims.
The Tasnim report also refers to a claim by US President Donald Trump that the US had sent “a lot of weapons” to Iranian protesters via Kurdish militias. Iranian officials have previously accused the US and Israel of supporting the protests.
So far, reports suggest that Iran has executed at least 14 political prisoners since the start of the war on February 28, and there are several more at risk of execution. Human rights activists have warned of a recent increase in politically motivated executions.
