Tehran has reacted to a 15-point American plan to end the war, calling it "overly ambitious, unusual and illogical."
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran has finalized its demands regarding the latest proposals to end the conflict, but that they will be made public only at the right time. According to him, Tehran will not succumb to pressure.
According to the state news agency IRNA, Baghaei said that a few days ago the proposals were conveyed through intermediaries and that the 15-point American plan was transmitted through Pakistan and several other friendly countries.
He stressed that Iran has its own framework for negotiations. “Based on our interests and assessments, we have drawn up the package of demands that we had and have,” Baghaei said.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman also rejected the idea that engaging with mediators shows weakness. According to him, the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran quickly and openly presents its positions on a plan should not be considered a sign of surrender.
"From the moment this issue was raised, we have formulated our responses. When necessary, we will inform you clearly," he concluded.
