Following the tragic accident that occurred three days ago on the Egnatia highway in Greece, the first eyewitness accounts have emerged. The incident left behind three Albanian victims: Viktor Bushi, Klarenc Kacaj and Marianka Bushi (Aliraj), while another, Magdalena Kacaj, was injured.
“We heard the three people begging to get them out: ‘Get us out, save us.’ They were trapped and burning alive. We couldn’t get them out,” a witness said, Protothema reports. He added that the tires started to explode and the car quickly caught fire. “It started making a lot of explosions. The fire was coming from the truck, it was fast and strong,” he added.
The incident occurred when the Albanians living in Athens were returning from a wedding in Xanthi. The truck first collided with their car and then with another vehicle carrying a pregnant woman, her husband and their two children, aged 4 and 6. Investigations into the causes of the accident are ongoing.
