The Ministry of Defense took stock of the fire situation in the country for the period from 09:00 on August 17 to 09:15 on August 18, 2025. According to the official announcement, 23 fires have been identified in Albania, of which 16 have been completely extinguished, 4 remain active and 3 are under monitoring.
The extinguished outbreaks are located in Gramsh, Vlorë, Skrapar, Përmet, Durrës, Krujë, Memaliaj, Shkodër, Patos, Delvinë and Elbasan. Meanwhile, the situation remains critical in several areas:
Bulqizë: two active outbreaks in Tërnova (Liqeni i Zi and Valikardhe) and one in the village of Val, where firefighting, forestry and municipal forces are intervening.
Fushë Arrëz: several outbreaks out of control in the villages of Xeth, Kolumri and Trun; the difficult terrain has mobilized 50 Armed Forces personnel with firefighting vehicles.
Kolonjë, Gërmenj Natural Park: active outbreak spreading towards the border, intervention by firefighters, local structures and 30 soldiers from the Drenova unit.
Other outbreaks in Vaqarr, Pezë Helmës, Ibë and Delvinë remain under the supervision of the authorities.
The National Civil Protection Agency, in cooperation with the Armed Forces, fire services, local structures and residents of the affected areas, continues to work to completely neutralize the outbreaks and protect communities.
