The Albanian Parliament is expected to approve the draft law "On Gender Equality" tomorrow, while opposition from religious communities and pro-family organizations is against it on the eve of the vote.
The Interreligious Council of Albania (IRC) has today reiterated its official stance against the draft law, emphasizing the importance of preserving the fundamental values of the family, Albanian moral and social tradition, as well as the principles of religious beliefs.
In the statement distributed to the media, the INFSH underlines that it remains committed to dialogue with state institutions and civil society, with the aim of strengthening interfaith harmony and building a "just, equal and sustainable" society.
"May God bless Albania and all its citizens!" concludes the statement of the Presidency Board of the INFSH.
In the same line of stance, the Albanian Coalition "Pro Family & Life" has announced the holding of a peaceful rally tomorrow, November 6, at 09:30 in front of the Albanian Parliament.
Organizers state that the protest aims to "protect family values and the right to grow up in a society that respects the family as its foundation."
In the public appeal, the coalition appeals to citizens to unite to "stand together for the family and children," describing the draft law as a threat to traditional Albanian family values.
"The family is the foundation of society and any attempt to replace or relativize it must be stopped," their statement said.
The Gender Equality Bill is expected to spark widespread debate in Thursday's plenary session, between supporters who consider it a step towards real equality and opponents who see it as a violation of traditional values.
