Air traffic at Brussels International Airport has been temporarily suspended after reports of a drone in its airspace, Belgian media reported. The closure of air traffic occurred shortly after 8 p.m.
"Shortly before 8 p.m., a drone was reported over the airport grounds," said Kurt Verwilligen, a spokesman for Skeyes.
"For security reasons, all air traffic has been temporarily suspended," he added. Several planes traveling to Brussels Airport (Zaventem) were forced to divert, notably to Liège Airport.
Authorities have confirmed that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure airspace stability and control the situation, while travelers are advised to follow official airport announcements for further developments.
