"Houses are becoming empty. Many elderly people live alone, without care and often die in silence. Young people are finding no hope in Albania. Those who have remained in the villages work day and night, without rest, and on Sundays, like today, and nothing comes of it. They are just holding their breath." This is what journalist Xhensila Shkëmbi writes, denouncing that villages are disappearing, especially those far from asphalt.
Those without roads. Without life. Without health centers. Where the doctor comes once every 3 months or does not come at all. Where schools have collective classes or have been turned into barns for cows' alfalfa. Few are talking about the villages of Korça, Kolonja, Pogradec, Devolli, Maliqi and Pustec.
Few people are talking about the lack of youth noise in the villages. The lands are lying fallow. Through no fault of the people. Even if you work hard, the ministry supports large farmers, not small ones.
"Even the cow is no longer producing milk, due to the anger of the people, who used to feed it three times a day, while today they eat twice for themselves and once go to feed the cow," the journalist concludes his status.
