The facade of the National History Museum in Tirana has been temporarily transformed into a powerful artistic and human act. The installation “Sun of Another Day”, by artist Blerta Kambo, has brought a symbolic and sensitive intervention onto the monumental mosaic “Albania”, which will remain on the iconic work of Albanian public art for 3 weeks.
With this installation, Kambo combines history with current health issues, turning the country's most famous facade into a platform of solidarity for women facing breast cancer. The new artistic element is placed above the central female figure of the mosaic, as a clear gesture of support, courage and reflection.
The intervention was realized with mastered mosaic techniques and was placed completely without touching the original structure of the “Albania” mosaic. It functions as an external, temporary layer, respecting the museum and historical value of the work, while adding a new symbolic dimension to it.
“Sun of Another Day” delivers a straightforward message: breast cancer awareness is not just a health issue, but also a human, social, and cultural issue. The installation is dedicated to the “1 in 12 women” who are diagnosed with the disease — a poignant reminder that personal struggles require collective support.
During the three weeks it will remain on the facade, this temporary work aims to create a new conversation between citizens and public space, inviting everyone to reflect on the strength, resilience, and hope of women facing breast cancer.
Blerta Kambo's installation transforms a monument of our heritage into a space of contemporary art with a cause — a reminder that art has the power to change the rhythm of everyday life, open discussions, and bring hearts closer.
