The Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) has imposed a complete blockade of the Librazhd-Prrenjas axis due to the worsening situation on the bridge in the area known as "Arrat e Gurrës".
Initially, traffic was banned for heavy vehicles and buses, but after recent field inspections and the deterioration of the bridge's condition, the decision was made to completely ban all vehicles.
The Director of the Albanian National Road Safety Agency, Ami Kozeli, stated that a significant deterioration of the situation has been observed over the last 48 hours. According to him, the displacement of the bridge has increased from 27 centimeters to 29 centimeters within a day, while an inspection under the structure has observed concrete crumbling.
"We have been under surveillance for weeks, but the recent deterioration forces us to temporarily block traffic, until a provisional measure is implemented by building a bypass next to the escarpment. The bridge currently does not offer safety," said Kozeli.
The Albanian Road Traffic Authority has advised drivers to use the Lozhan–Moglicë–Gramsh axis as an alternative route. However, this route also presents infrastructure problems and a need for intervention.
According to the Police announcement, traffic on the "Librazhd-Pogradec" axis will remain blocked until further notice. The movement of all vehicles, including heavy vehicles, buses and small vehicles, is prohibited. Only ambulances, fire services and Police vehicles will be allowed to pass.
An alternative route for small vehicles will be the Maliq–Lozhan–Moglicë–Gramsh axis, towards Tirana and vice versa.
Police services are present on the ground to monitor the situation and guide drivers. For any emergency, citizens can call the toll-free number 112.
