Traffic on the Kakavija-Ioannina road axis was completely blocked this evening, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, as part of the Greek farmers' protests taking place across the country.
The traffic disruption was applied to all vehicles, except for emergency medical vehicles. Despite the blockage, traffic at the Kakavija Border Crossing Point was calm, as most passengers were informed about the protests and avoided crossing during this time slot, avoiding delays.
Greek farmers' protests are expected to last until December 5, while they have paralyzed important road segments, ports and customs points throughout Greece.
Farmers are reacting to late payments, lack of compensation, high production costs and low prices for agricultural products. Border authorities in Kakavija have called on travelers to plan their movements at alternative times to avoid problems from ongoing congestion.
